This Doctor's Battle Against Chronic Obesity

Even though I am a world class Homeopathic Doctor and lecturer, I’ve tried many methods of dieting and never found a facile answer until now with my exposure to the HCG Diet of Dr. A.T.W. Simeon M.D. of Rome Italy.

I have blamed my corpulent status for years on two pieces of fact. One is that I take after my dear late Father who passed away when I was 19 years old in 1965 and he was just 4 days short of his 54th birthday. In fact I’ve credited my homeopathic remedies with keeping me around in a healthful state where I’ve outlived him now close to my 65th year.

The second fact is that at a young age became an affe­cionado of wine and ultimately became the Commander of the Arizona Chapter of the Brotherhood of the Knights of the Vine arranging gourmet wine dinners in the Phoenix Area and for a ten year period from 1980-1990 became the secret spy for the Travel-Holiday Magazines Restaurant award program for the state of Arizona. Even though that position ended in 1990 and I stepped down from the KOV position in 1992 I’ve continued my quest to find that next best gourmet meal. I’ve literally visited many of the best restaurants all over the United States and many places around the world.

I’m not sure that I would trade away the pleasurable Gourmet experiences I’ve had and may someday write about them but the price I’ve paid has to be the 75 plus pounds of extra weight that I’ve put on and until now have been unable to take off based upon my height and age.

In the last 43 days I’ve just lost 31 pounds and added to the ten pounds I’ve lost by regular dieting since January 1st, 2008. I’m now 41 pounds on the way towards losing the 75 pounds I needed to lose. I expect to reach that goal by Thanksgiving 2009 (i.e., I lost ten pounds in 566 days and will lose 65 pounds more in just 110 more days by using the HCG diet).

What is Dr. Simeon’s secret?

What one needs to do is to read Dr. Simeon’s short book of just 56 pages. Its called Pounds & Inches: A New Approach To Obesity, by A.T.W. Simeons, M.D.

In this very educational treatise, Dr. Simeon discusses a review of his research on all of the glands within the body and how different hormones control storage of excess nutrients. It comes down to the fact that there are three kinds of Fats stored in the body and the kind of fat that causes obesity is the Brown fat that is the last nutrient to be digested after the more superficially deposited fats are metabolized when the body short changes itself of caloric intake. The body does not resolve its Obesity status until the Brown Fat is metabolized and under normal circumstances the Brown Fat goes last.

Dr. Simeon figured out through his research that Brown fat can be caused to break down first when the hormone HCG in amounts of 125-150 IUs per day(Human Cho­rionic Gonadotrophin---a normal product of pregnancy) stimulates the Diencephalon (a part of the brain) in com­bination with a 500 calorie daily food intake. More or less IUs of HCG or more than 500 calories of food can have untoward results and not achieve the diets goals.

The 500 calorie diet plus HCG shots can only be given for 40 days at a time requiring a 6 week break of controlled normal dieting before the program can be resumed with another 40 days of HCG shots and strict diet.

I’m writing this article at the beginning of my first Break period after having lost 31 pounds during the first 40 days and will need to maintain that loss with no more than a 2 pound gain until the time when I restart in about 5 weeks with the hope that I can complete Round two in time to enjoy a real Thanksgiving meal with my family.

The HCG is amazing as all hunger disappears even though one is only eating 500 calories of very unenjoyable unsat­isfying but totally filling meals. A typical day starts with a Breakfast of Venti sized coffee flavored with non caloric Stevia (the pink, Blue and Yellow sweetners are forbidden). Lunch is a Grisini Bread stick plus 3.5 ounces of protein (chicken fish or lean organic meat) plus some type of lettuce greens sprinkled with lemon juice. Mid-afternoon one has an apple (Fuji’s are my favorite). Dinner is a peice of Melba Toast plus a fruit like half grapefruit and another 3.5 ounces of protein and cooked greens like spinach. Water, water, water is the rule that I couldn’t follow correctly.

I actually wrote a short diary to my family and close advisers every Saturday and really felt that I was in a self imposed food prison as repayment for years of gluttony. I did not have any of my favorite wine for the whole 43 days of Round One.

I can tell you that I had two very excellent coaches, one is available to you and the other is my wife who acted as my “food warden” preparing my lunches and dinners. What are the drawbacks to this program?

For me it has been food boredom, constipation (no food, no BMs) and itching (detoxing fat releases toxins).

Of course, the answers have been my Homeopathic Detox Protocols, without which I can’t see how anyone could do this?

Will I do this for my patients?

Not at this time. I’ve got to make it through my pro­gram completely with weight loss permanent, food intake happily tolerable and no untoward health situations that haven’t been anticipated.

For now I need to go to my Tailor and have all of my clothes altered. I’ve lost about 5 inches in my waist and similar amounts in other parts of my body.

My wife and I also “fit together” better like we did in earlier years.

What is Meridian Stress Analysis?

The Meridian Stress Analysis (MSA) computer system is considered to be an EAV device and is being renamed an MSA device. EAV or electro acupuncture was developed in the 1950’s by Dr. Reinhard Voll in Germany. He was nominated for the Nobel Prize in medicine which he did not win but was eventually awarded a similar prize given to him by the Vatican. 

Dr. Voll was a physician who understood traditional acupuncture and where all the acupuncture points were located. He knew how to place needles to add or subtract energy as mentioned above. He postulated that, since the acupuncture system was based on energy flow, it was an electromagnetic force that could be measured with simple electrical meter measuring devices. 

He used and developed a special system of measuring electrical skin resistance with a biofeedback type electrical meter used at the ends of the acupuncture meridians on the fingers and the toes. 

He worked for many years testing patients with known medical diseases and developed the data where recurring observation in the measurements indicated that certain disease states were indicated by the certain specific set of measurements he obtained. 

Scientists in Utah developed a computer program that is able to process the MSA readings to test Meridian Stress and is able to balance that stress with digitized signals of tens of thousands of environmental substances. 

The basic allergy and homeopathic principles of "small amounts of a toxic substance can balance the toxic effect of a large amount of the substance" is ready made for ELECTRODERMAL TESTING. 

When the MSA finds an out-of-balance meridian, the MSA computer can search its memory (with the help of the operator) to find the frequency of the substance that it takes to balance that meridian. Once that substance is ascertained, it becomes the remedy for that patient. 

The MSA has within its memory the electrical frequency of several thousand substances including: 

• Most of the homeopathic remedies
• Grass, weed and tree pollens
• Animal dander’s, dust, birds and fish
• Foods
• Phenolic compounds that make up foods
• Toxic chemicals and pesticides
• Dental materials
• Molds
• Drugs and pharmaceutical products
• Bacteria and virus particles
• Organs in healthy and diseased states
• X-ray and radiation frequencies
• Many other miscellaneous toxins

A full MSA workup can focus on many different subjects for the creation of many different remedies. Once the appropriate remedy is calculated to balance out-of-balance points, the appropriate remedy can be prescribed. 

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration had considered EAV devices to be considered for investigational use only and required its use to be considered research. This is no longer the case with the MSA and MSA. We are coming one step closer to having third party payers reimburse patients for its use. 

In the case of allergy treatment and diagnosis, it is correlated with the RAST blood testing or with traditional skin testing. In the case of homeopathic evaluation, it is correlated with a traditional homeopathic history and case taking procedures.

The Politics of Autism Therapy

A phenomena That Happened Once Before in the 1930’s in the USA (And Led to the Formation of Blue Cross/Blue Shield)

Autism is a horrible disease that is debilitating to very young children and is clearly a disease that has risen to epidemic proportions in the last thirty years and has ruined the family lives of any family that has been unfortunate to have a child so afflicted. Worse than that the traditional medical profession doesn’t have any reasonable answers to solving the problem and leaves these poor families to twist in the wind as they frustratingly go from clinic to clinic looking for answers that aren’t easily forthcoming.

Physicians that do have answers and semi-answers are usually in the “Integrative or Alternative Medicine” style of physicians and aren’t part of the third party payer Insurance world and create expenses that very quickly overwhelm the finances of these afflicted families.

Human nature being what it is, these families usu­ally start seeking answers on their own and very quickly discover that traditional medicine isn’t in the Dr. Marcus Welby/Florence Nightingale model and is trapped within the confines of Pharmaceutical mandates which makes sure that drugs, drugs and more drugs are the only prime answer to any types of problems that come along. This creates first fear for their children, than anger over the state of affairs and eventually a very determined attitude to discover the truth of what’s causing this affliction to their children and than a powerful quest to find the answers on their own.

There is an article in this issue of Explore by Dr. Dietrich Klinghardt MD regarding his very complete method of treating Autism. This one article can become the chapter headings for the definitive textbook on the treatment of this horrible disease. Very few physicians will ever read this article and a great majority of traditional physicians that do read it will discount its wisdom as “voodoo” medicine. Traditional medicine has almost completely discounted the wisdom of Integrative care and when this is discovered by the Autistic families it only angers and scares them further.

As time goes by eventually these families tend to seek each other out and band together in associations and clubs some of which become incorporated as founda­tions and societies.

With the paucity of traditional physicians knowledge­able in treating autistic children, these families tend to form a hierarchy within these associations and leaders emerge as spokespeople to both seek out information on the latest tidbit of information and then to both share and/or control this information among the rest of the group and other similar groups.

One cannot blame these leaders for after all they still need to live 24 hours a day with their autistic child but most of them literally begin to know much more information about this disease and find themselves quite unintentionally in most cases in positions of political influence and power.

Many of the leaders have had breakthrough suc­cesses with their children as in fact Autism is treatable. However the political capital of both the leaders and the groups they represent grow exponentially when a signifi­cant number of the children related to these groups have significant improvements. The knowledge of how to make even the slightest improvement in Autistic health becomes a very powerful political force and creates a patient group to be dealt with.

These groups both become the referral source for new families coming along and they end up controlling the healthcare practices of those physicians who agree to care for the patients according to the dictates of the will of these groups.

In the highest incarnation of this phenomena, semi­nars are created by these lay groups and lay leaders to teach both patients and physicians what to do and why, all with the understanding that the groups knowledge is paramount and that the control of treating Autism belongs to them because the medical profession has abdi­cated their rightful position of the legitimate profession of the practice of medicine.

These phenomena may be ubiquitous within the medical profession but it brings to mind what hap­pened in the 1930’s when doctors charged 50 cents for office calls (or a freshly killed chicken) and when the needs for hospital services occurred unless they were in a big city or in close proximity to religious orders there simply were no hospitals available to over 80% of the US population.

Civic groups arose to “help out the doctors” to organize rural hospitals as they were “too busy” tending to the ill patients and these groups organized the construction of community hospital centers and put together “societies” to sell the first insurance programs to finance the costs of these community hospitals. These societies were called Blue Cross organizations.

Doctors were told “you guys are too busy to organize and administer hospitals”, let us do it in the interest of “community” and you can have the clean workshops you need to practice your profession. Doctors saw no problem as even though Hospitals were “their workshops” they were in fact too busy to tend to this task and were glad to see others do it for them.

Several years later, the final turning point in the long term demise of the free practice of medicine occurred when these same groups noted that Physicians costs also needed “financing” and thus was born Blue Shield. It only took another 30 years before Medicare and Medicaid came along but the rest is history.

What you might be asking does the Politics of Autism have to do with the creation of the third party insurance system. It has a lot to do with it.

Whenever the professional practice of Medicine “drops the ball” and cannot deal with issues that it should right­fully be dealing with, than simple human nature kicks in and solutions come along that only “partially” solve the problem but creates situations where non trained individuals step into a void, takes over and does the best that it can. Unfortunately, by not being trained in the first place these solutions create other problems even though the solutions seem appropriate to begin with.

Just like the Medical Profession should be controlling its own financing instead of being under the control of the third part system, the treatment of autism should be being dealt with by the same medical profession who should be reading Dr. Klinghardt’s article and teaching its peers how to do what the article says. 

Who said that unless we learn our lessons we are des­tined to repeat our mistakes?

The Body's Immune System

Our immune system is our “Perfect Physician”. It has the innate ability to recognize truly foreign toxic substance, develop antibodies against those substances and establish a permanent and total “cure” against those substances as they are either destroyed or eliminated.

Once exposed to a foreign substance and successfully ridding our system of the substance, the immune system develops a “memory” of what it did and for the rest of that person’s life there is “immunity to the original substance so that the problem can never happen again.

The above statement applies to a normally functioning immune system. However there can be defects in the system and these defects is the cause of most of our illnesses. These defects fall in several broad categories.

1. The immune system cannot successfully make antibodies against the substance.
2. The immunity memory function either isn’t created or is erased.
3. The immune system mistakenly recognizes parts of the body as foreign and makes antibodies against us. This is known as an “auto‐immune” problem.
4. The created antibodies are mistakenly recognized as foreign and the immune system makes additional antibodies trying to eliminate something that was originally created to help us. This is the most common problem and is the basis of most of our inflammatory diseases such as allergies, arthritis, atherosclerosis and cancer to name a few.

Without going into a full blown textbook explanation of the immune system we need to point out that our creator developed some controllable biological on/off switches that we can use to shut down or actually turn back on, those immune processes that are either desirable or undesirable depending on the circumstances.

These “switches” are called “To” helper and “Ts” suppressor Lymphocytes. The T‐helper lymphocytes further develop intoTh1 and Th2 Lymphocytes and under correct circumstances become Th3 lymphocytes, which help direct the cleaning of the Matrix space as, mentioned above.

A brief explanation of immune function is necessary to explain how these switches work.

Cells called Antigen presenting cells (APCs) originally identify foreign substances as foreign. These APCs than deliver the message of alarm to either a T Helper or a T Suppressor Lymphocyte which transfer the message to a B Lymphocyte.

B Lymphocytes are the cells that make the Antibodies.

If a T Helper Lymphocyte delivers the message, the B Lymphocyte is turned “ON” and antibodies are produced.

If a T Suppressor Lymphocyte delivers the message the B Lymphocyte is turned “OFF” and antibody production stops.

Helpers turn ON and Suppressors turn OFF.

Obviously is a situation 1 or 2 where we want antibody production we want that message going via the T Helper Lymphocytes and in a situation 3 or 4 where we want to stop antibody production we want the message delivered via the T suppressor Lymphocytes.

What then determines which T Lymphocyte gets to deliver the message?

The Concentration or Dilution of the original foreign substance determines where the macrophage takes the original message.

Very Very High Concentration and very very low dilutions will selectively go to the T Suppressor. Lymphocytes shutting down the B cells BUT all of the mid‐range dilutions in between very low and very high selectively go to T Helper Lymphocytes turning B Cell Antibody production.

In more practical terms of a food allergy, if a person gets an asthma attack from drinking milk because of antibody production against milk triggering cells that produce histamine to shut down lung function (an example of situation 4 above) we can introduce several drops of diluted milk ( a very very low dilution) or a gallon ( a very very high concentration) (obviously impractical to use a gallon) of milk and effectively connect with T Suppressors which will shut down the milk B Cells and stop the asthma A simple glass of milk ( a mid‐range amount) will connect with T Helpers and turn on the B Cells and start the asthma! A perfect example of situation 4.

An example of wanting to turn on B Cells via T Helper Lymphocytes would be unwelcome infections. WE would never want our Endobiont to become the form of the measles virus. Therefore we would want a mid range amount of measles virus to cause a “memory” in clone of T Helper Lymphocytes and Associated B Lymphocytes to always make antibodies against measles and not be turned off. This is a perfect example of situation 1.

An Example of Situation 2 is the current scourge of humanity called the AIDS virus Aids Virus kills T Helper Lymphocytes so that needed B Cells can NEVER BE TURNED ON.

The key to this chapter is that many of our diseases can be “cured” by finding ways to turn off unwanted antibody production of situations 3 and 4 and that we have a way to do this by introducing small dilutions of substances that shut down the B Lymphocytes that are producing these undesirable antibodies.

We have a “switch” and all that is required is to find the substance causing the problem and the correct dilution to do the job.

T helper lymphocytes become Th1 cells and also alternatively Th2cells. Each of these cell types produce cell signaling substances called Cytokines. The alternation between the two types of cytokines helps cleanse the Matrix. During times of disease the alternation gets STUCK as either a Th1 or a Th2 state and only the production of the cytokine TGF-b can break through this Immunological logjam.

One of the ways to do this is for the T Helper Lymphocytes to become a Th3 cell. (Th3 cells can produce TGF‐b!)
