Intravenous Ozone Therapy | Pain Therapy Ozone | Ozone Therapy and Infections

In 1995 I made my first trip to Baden Baden, Germany to attend Medical Week, the European Conference of Homotoxicology. Medical practitioners from all over the world attend this conference to exchange ideas and discuss their experiences. In addition to being a world class seminar, it was presented in an auditorium, translated into five languages simultaneously, making one feel that they were sitting in the United Nations General Assembly Chamber.
There was a four story Exhibit Hall with presenters showing a wide range of products and medical services that are not typically found in the United States. I remember remarking that I felt like a young child going into a giant toy store. There were medical devices on display that I had never heard of, but their intrinsic value became immediately apparent. At the conference I purchased a Blood Ultra Violet Irradiation device that I’ve been using successfully in my Arizona practice for the past 14 years. Based on the premise that blood U/V is a powerful oxidative treatment, our administrative procedure is very simple. We draw blood from the patient’s arm using a sterile tube that’s connected to a ultra-violet light chamber. The patient’s blood therein gets energized and Then, we re-inject the treated blood back into the patient’s vein and, in so doing, the patient receives an oxidative treatment that helps to resolve infectious problems by neutralizing toxins that are sensitive to increased oxygen exposure. We have remedied patient infections more rapidly when this procedure is performed. Now we know a better solution with intravenous ozone therapy.
At this same 1995 conference in Germany, I visited other booths that sold Blood U/V equipment along with attachments that not only did U/V, but also “ozonated” the blood before reinjection. At the time, I also considered purchasing this equipment, but was told that Ozone boosted the effectiveness of the treatment by less than 10%. It was suggested that I get comfortable using the U/V procedure and add Ozone later.
Fourteen years of hindsight leave me regretful of the decision not to purchase Ozone in 1995. While we have achieved excellent results with U/V therapy, our results could have been even more pronounced. According to a January 2009 seminar delivered by Dr. Robert Rowen, M.D. on Oxidative Therapy given at Anthem Arizona, we learned that Ozone improves the outcome by as much as 50% to the Oxidative treatment. Ozone Therapy and Infections
At Rowen’s seminar the history of this treatment was also discussed. More than a century ago U/V was known to inactivate toxins, kill microorganisms (including TB), and prepare vaccines (including rabies). A Harvard Ph.D. Physicist, Emmett Knott, observed that buzzards avoided carcasses that were exposed to sunlight. The natural U/V emitted by the sunlight prevented decomposition whereas the buzzards seemed to prefer carcasses rotting in the shade. This observed phenomenon led him to begin a series of experiments in 1928 on septic patients which ultimately lead to the creation of the Knott Technique of Ultra-Violet blood irradiation therapy. Other practitioners, including George Miley, Hancock, and Rebbeck, achieved excellent results in treating septic patients with U/V blood therapy.
The mechanism of action works as follows. U/V changes molecular oxygen into an activated state called “singlet oxygen” which is not a free radical; rather, it is simply highly activated. Dr. Rowen’s seminar and papers have a complete bibliography of published works from reputable American Medical Journals, quoting practitioners who have treated numerous patients with U/V treatment and have realized positive outcomes. Research performed in Germany has shown that blood U/V improves the electrophoresis of red blood cells, elevates electrical charges on RBCs, lowers surface tension of blood, elevates chemical luminescence of blood, increases RBCs, hemoglobin, white blood cells, basophils, lymphocytes, and lowers thrombocytes. U/V lowers fibrin, normalizes fibrinolysis and fibrin split products, lowers platelet aggregation, and lowers full blood viscosity, plasma viscosity, and RBC aggregation tendencies. U/V fully increases oxygen utilization as measured by 11 different parameters, while simultaneously modulating the immune status.
It’s only contraindication appears to be pregnancy.
The book, “Into the Light” by William Campbell Douglass, M.D., is a must read to get the complete story on Ultra-Violet Blood Irradiation based on Dr. Douglass’ research in Russia. Dr. Rowen’s seminar materials included references to 41 separate, published articles from the Russian Medical literature. Medical Ozone actually predates Ultra-Violet Blood Radiation which has been used in the past.
Ozone is indicated for:
1. Arterial Circulatory Problems (peripheral, coronary, cerebral and Macular Degeneration)
2. External ulcers and skin lesions, bedsores, chronic wounds, diabetic gangrene, burns
3. Intestinal pathology (proctitis and colitis, Crohn’s Fistulae)

5. Adjunctive therapy in Cancer
6. Geriatric conditions including Macular Degeneration
7. Rheumatism and Arthritis
8. Dental Ozone
9. Lumbar disc disease
Dr. Rowen quoted 15 published papers supporting the effectiveness of Ozone including statements related to treatment of:
1. Retinitis Pigmentosa
2. Glaucoma
3. Viral Keratitis
4. Hormone Imbalance
5. Basilar Artery Syndrome
6. Ear Infections
7. Chronic Tonsillitis
8. Diabetic Neuroangiopathy

15. Reiter’s Syndrome
16. Amebiasis
17. Hepatitis

20. Rheumatoid Arthritis
21. Gonarthroses
22. Lumbar Disc
Ozone was discovered by Dr. Christian Freidrich Schonbein (1799-1868) in 1840. When Schonbein electrolyzed oxygen, it produced a distinctive “sweet” smell very similar to mountain fresh air after a thunderstorm which is the smell of actual Ozone. Erwin Payr (1871-1946), was a surgeon who pioneered the use of Ozone in medicine. E.A. Fisch (1899-1966) was a dental physician and surgeon who expanded the use of Ozone in health uses. Joachim Hansler (1908-1981) developed an Ozone Generator and greatly expanded the use of Ozone in medicine.
Ozone is contraindicated in pregnancy, Hyperthyroidism, and G6PD deficiency. It has a high safety factor and virtually all complications derive from direct intravascular gas administration. The most important effect of Ozone is the peroxidation of the RBC membrane which leads to an increase in RBC 2, 3, and DGP. Peroxidation is an absolute requirement for hemoglobin to release oxygen to the tissues. RBC 2, 3, and DGP, shift the oxyhemoglobin curve to the right releasing more O2 at lower O2 concentrations. Ozone treatments therefore, have their main effect in driving more oxygen into our tissues! A researcher by the name of Bocci showed that Ozone induces Cytokines and Interferons.
Raising Ozone in the blood promotes an increase in the all important TGF-beta (which we’ve written about in our work on Comprehensive Homeopathy).
Ozone activates the Immune System. According to Science News in 2002, antibodies also generate Ozone.
Ozone reduces platelet aggregation as well as thrombin and collagen caused by increased intracellular calcium.
Ozone induces a general revitalization by activating immunocompetent cells, RBC metabolism, improved O2 release, and enzymatic antioxidant status. It increases plasma protein thiol groups, plasma and tissue H2O2, and nitric oxide levels.
Our practice offers the following therapies that include various forms of oxidative medicine:
1. Ultraviolet Blood Irradiation
2. Blood Intravenous Ozone Mix
3. Blood U/V plus Ozone together

I did IV ozone therapy and immediately after had pain burning sensation in my left neck - I would say at the jugular vein site. I am 1 day later and it still bothers me in this area. it is not an intense burning but a nagging light burn. Is this normal? What might be the problem?
